Acupuncture, a major therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is an ancient healing practice that involves stimulating specific points on the body by inserting thin needles into the skin. These points, known as acupoints, are located along meridians, which are pathways through which vital energy, or Qi is believed to flow.  TCM views health as a state of balance between opposing forces, Yin and Yang, and the smooth flow of Qi. Illness is thought to arise from imbalances in these forces or blockages in the flow of Qi. Acupuncture aims to restore this balance and promote the free flow of Qi, thereby activating the body's natural healing abilities.   While the exact mechanisms by which acupuncture works are still being researched, it is believed to stimulate the nervous system, release endorphins, and influence the body's physiological processes. It has been used to treat a wide range of conditions, including pain management, nausea, allergies, stress, and various disorders.
