Appraisal Districts were established by the Texas legislature in 1980 to appraise all taxable property values in a fair and uniform manner. We will discuss Property Tax code as it relates to Appraisal and Assessment, related general provisions, and available exemptions created over the subsequent years impacting taxable values, and how to apply for them. In addition, appraisal methodologies will be outlined, as well as the taxpayer protest process and tips on filing a protest through the system.
